Description
 
Our client is seeking a tax associate with approximately 5 years of experience to join its tax team in Toronto.
The successful candidate will advise on:
  • Structuring of domestic and cross-border investments
  • Private equity transactions and fund formation
  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Partnership and joint venture arrangements
  • Real estate investment structures
  • Energy and infrastructure transactions, including tax credit and incentive regimes
  • Private wealth and family office structuring
You will work closely with corporate, real estate, banking and private wealth teams in Canada and internationally. The role involves significant drafting responsibility, including transactional documents, partnership agreements and detailed tax memoranda addressing complex and developing areas of Canadian tax law.
 
Qualifications
 
Candidates must:
  • Be admitted and in good standing with a Canadian provincial or territorial law society (e.g., Law Society of Ontario, Barreau du Québec, etc.)
  • Demonstrate strong academic credentials
  • Possess excellent drafting and analytical skills
  • Thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, and internationally integrated environment
  • Be intellectually curious and comfortable advising in developing areas of tax law where guidance may be limited

An LL.M. in Taxation or completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course would be considered an asset but is not required.
